Research aims
The purpose of the register is to collect well-documented multi-case ovarian cancer families for research. This research is aimed at identifying the genes involved in predisposition to ovarian cancer and the risks associated with these genes in order to inform the management of these families.
Specific aims are:
To estimate the risks of ovarian cancer to women who have relatives with ovarian cancer
To find out how much of ovarian cancer is due to genes such as BRCA1 and BRCA2
To search for novel genes involved in susceptibility to ovarian cancer
Research is carried out in collaboration with researchers from around the world.
