Shabina joined EPIC as the Research Co-ordinator in May 2002.
Shabina has always had an interest in epidemiological studies and
public health. Working at EPIC provides her with the ideal opportunity
to be part of a team which is involved in identifying health needs
and fostering policies which promote health.
She is responsible for steering the health checks, implementing
strategies as agreed by the Management Committee and has overall
responsibility of coordinating and managing the project.
As the co-ordinator, it is Shabina's responsibility to work closely
with the EPIC Principal Investigators, collaborators, and staff
to ensure that the research is conducted in accordance with ethical
principals and are consistent with good research practice.
As a member of the Management Committee, Shabina is also responsible
for the general management and direction of the EPIC-Norfolk Study.
Currently Shabina is involved with the Third Health Check. In this
phase, we are looking at repeat measures to look at changes in people
since they first joined the study in 1993. We are also investigating
diseases and health endpoints of relevance to the older population,
and how these have an impact on our daily lives and make us more
prone to serious illnesses.
